Renowned Explorers: International Society

Renowned Explorers: International Society launched on September 2, 2015 and received a full post-launch content cycle over three years. Two paid expansions shipped — "More To Explore" on May 31, 2016 and "The Emperor's Challenge" on May 10, 2017 — along with numerous free content patches throughout that period. On December 5, 2018, Abbey Games announced a third and final expansion alongside an explicit statement that this would be the last content for the game. On December 13, 2018, "Quest For The Holy Grail" shipped as a free DLC for all base game owners, accompanied by a paid Soundtrack and Art Book. At the same time, Abbey Games released the "Renowned Explorers: Definitive Edition" bundle, described as collecting "everything Renowned Explorers" into a complete package. The developer explicitly called this "the last expansion for Renowned Explorers." All four DLC entries in the store listing are marked as released, and no unreleased content exists. A December 2020 studio retrospective confirmed Abbey Games had moved on to new projects, and a May 2024 post promoting their next game, Reus 2, addressed the community directly to explain why a Renowned Explorers sequel was not being made — reinforcing that development on this title concluded years prior. The game is complete. All content was delivered by December 13, 2018, and a Definitive Edition bundle packaging that complete content was released on the same date.
