Evaluation
Resident Evil 2 (2019) is a complete, fully released game with no further content planned. It launched on January 24, 2019 and received a wave of costume, weapon, and soundtrack DLC throughout 2019 and into June 2020, when the Original Soundtrack DLC was released — the last piece of content added to the game. All 13 listed DLC items have been released with no unreleased entries remaining.
In March 2022, Capcom issued a free upgrade patch adding ray tracing, high frame rate, and 3D audio support, explicitly noting that "no new gameplay content will be added." This was followed by a minor rollback option in June 2022 for players who preferred the previous version. These were technical updates, not content expansions.
The developer's news feed since 2022 has been focused entirely on other titles in the Resident Evil franchise — Resident Evil 4 Remake's DLC (2023–2024), Resident Evil Village's Winters' Expansion (2022), Resident Evil Requiem (launched February 27, 2026), and most recently the announcement of Resident Evil Veronica for 2027. None of these posts announce any new content for Resident Evil 2 itself.
The game's store description makes no mention of ongoing updates, future content, or additional plans. This game launched as a complete reimagining of the 1998 classic and has been fully supported and concluded. Anyone waiting for all content to be available can consider the game complete as of June 25, 2020.
