Riding Out

Riding Out entered Steam Early Access on May 25, 2016 as an explicitly unfinished horse RPG. The developer published a series of feature updates through 2016, 2017, and into early 2018 — versions 1.1b, 1.1d, 1.1, 1.2, 1.2.4, 1.2.5, 1.3, 1.4, and finally Early Beta 1.5 on March 8, 2018. The store description still promises that "the beta version will be upgraded regularly with new features" and that buyers will automatically receive the full version once development is complete. However, the last developer communication of any kind was that March 8, 2018 update. Since then — through to today, June 27, 2026 — there have been no patch notes, no developer posts, and no studio announcements of any kind. The game has been in Early Access for over ten years, and the promised 1.0 full release has never materialized. Many features described in the store page (full quest implementation, complete multiplayer, breeding systems) were acknowledged as unfinished in the game's own December 2016 developer post, with no indication they were ever completed. The game technically remains purchasable on Steam in its Early Access state, and the store page still markets future completion — but the total absence of any developer activity since March 2018 makes it deeply uncertain whether development is continuing or has been quietly abandoned.
