Rise of Legions

Rise of Legions launched into Early Access on February 22, 2019 and reached its full 1.0 release on August 30, 2019. The game received post-launch balance patches and feature updates through late 2020, but no new major content after launch. By late 2021, the developer (Broken Games) announced the game was no longer financially sustainable — player numbers had declined to the point where the studio was paying out of pocket to keep servers running. On November 29, 2021, they announced a transition plan: the publisher, Crunchy Leaf Games, would continue the game's legacy under a new name, "Crystal Clash," with a relaunch targeting December 20, 2021. Rise of Legions itself would go offline permanently as part of this transition. The store page now explicitly confirms this outcome: "The Rise of Legions servers have shut down." The game is still technically purchasable on Steam (the page remains up), but it is a non-functional online game with no active servers. The developer's subsequent communications (from October 2022 onward) focus entirely on their next project, Galactic Glitch, with no mention of any further plans for Rise of Legions. The game's content and development concluded with the server shutdown in December 2021, when it was superseded by Crystal Clash.
