Riven (1997)

Riven: The Sequel to Myst is the original 1997 point-and-click puzzle adventure, made available on Steam in 2010. It is a classic, finished game that shipped as a complete experience — no post-launch content, expansions, or DLC were ever planned or released for it. Cyan Worlds has periodically maintained and updated this legacy title for compatibility with modern hardware and operating systems (most recently a major "2.0" patch on May 22, 2025 that brought 64-bit support, Apple Silicon compatibility, Steam Deck verification, and improved controller support, followed by a minor compatibility patch on June 26, 2025). These are preservation and maintenance efforts, not new content. Cyan's May 2025 post explicitly frames this work as commitment to keeping legacy games playable on modern platforms — not as additions to the game itself. The store description clearly identifies this as the original 1997 release with its original point-and-click gameplay. A separate full remake of Riven was released in 2024 as a distinct product on Steam; that does not affect the content status of this 1997 original. This game is a complete, finished product.
