River City Girls 2 launched on December 14, 2022 and received a series of performance and balance patches throughout 2023. The game's one paid DLC — the Double Dragon DLC adding Billy and Jimmy Lee as playable characters — released on December 4, 2024, accompanied by a substantial free update adding new shops, color palettes, online co-op improvements, and more content. A small bug-fix patch followed on January 15, 2025, resolving a quest-tracking issue introduced by the December update. That January 2025 patch is the last developer communication on record. All listed DLC has shipped, no further content has been announced, and the developer has made no statements about additional expansions or updates. The post-launch arc — patches, a major DLC, a follow-up bug fix — reads as a complete content cycle with no outstanding commitments. WayForward's attention has visibly shifted to other projects (Contra: Operation Galuga launched in March 2024). The game appears to be content-complete.

Level-up to earn new moves, buy items and accessories in more than 40 shops, and recruit defeated foes and hired heavies to help you on your way! River City is bigger than ever, offering more areas to explore, more objects to destroy, and a day-night cycle! With nonlinear gameplay, character-specific VO, and another epic soundtrack by Megan McDuffee, River City Girls 2 will keep you brawling until all your enemies yell "BARF!"
