Rochard launched on November 15, 2011 as a complete, self-contained side-scrolling platformer with no post-launch content cycle. The developer, Recoil Games, posted a notice on February 17, 2021 confirming that the studio had filed for bankruptcy and that, after failing to find a buyer for the game, the publishing agreement with Steam would be terminated. The game can no longer be purchased on Steam, which is consistent with the store data showing no available purchase options. Existing owners retain access to their library copies, but the game is no longer available for new purchase.
