rote² (roteSquare)

rote² is a free-to-play rhythm game that has been receiving content updates since at least mid-2022. The developer shipped two major content updates post-launch: a new song on September 23, 2023, and another new song on April 1, 2024. Before the official Steam release, additional songs and features were also added (October 2022, July 2022). This establishes a rough cadence of major content every few months. The last developer communication of any kind was on March 30, 2024, which announced the April 1, 2024 song update. Since then — now over 18 months as of October 1, 2026 — the developer has posted nothing: no new songs, no patches, no announcements, and no statement about future plans. The prior cadence between major content drops ranged from about 1 to 6 months; 18+ months of silence far exceeds even the most generous interpretation of that window. The developer has not announced that development is complete, but they have also not communicated anything since April 2024. The game launched as free-to-play with a single paid "Full Version" DLC that has been available since August 2023. No unreleased DLC exists on the store. Given the silence well beyond the historical update pattern and the absence of any outstanding commitments or announced future content, the most reasonable conclusion is that the game has reached the end of its update cycle. The April 1, 2024 song addition represents the last shipped content.
