Evaluation

Quaver is a free-to-play competitive rhythm game that officially exited Steam Early Access on December 28, 2022 (v1.1 update). Since its 1.0 launch, the developer has maintained a consistent and healthy pattern of major content updates. The post-launch major update history includes: v1.2 (August 4, 2023), v1.6.0 (November 24, 2024), and most recently v1.7 (July 3, 2026). The v1.7 update — released just 47 days before today's date of August 19, 2026 — is a substantial release introducing a brand new note type (Mines), expanded 1–10 key game mode support, and native MacOS M-Series chip support, alongside numerous additions and bug fixes. This is clearly a game in active, ongoing development. Major updates have arrived at irregular but sustained intervals, typically ranging from several months to just over a year apart. The developer has not announced any conclusion to development, and the open-source, community-driven nature of the project (with named contributors listed in each update) reinforces that development remains active. The game's online infrastructure — including clans, leaderboards, multiplayer, and ranked maps — also depends on continued developer support.
