SANABI launched out of Early Access on November 8, 2023 as a complete story-driven action-platformer. At launch, the developer (WONDER POTION) announced plans for two short free DLC episodes exploring the backstories of the protagonist and a supporting character, originally targeting the first half of 2024. On September 8, 2025, the developer published a candid note explaining that the originally promised two short DLC episodes had evolved into something more substantial: a spin-off DLC featuring a brand-new playable character, Major Song. They were transparent about the challenges of expanding such a tightly structured, linear game, and committed to releasing this single, more meaningful DLC for free rather than producing multiple weaker pieces of content. That DLC — SANABI: A Haunted Day — launched on November 27, 2025, fulfilling the developer's outstanding commitment to post-launch content. It is a free ~2-hour spin-off with 8 stages, 2 bosses, and a new protagonist. A companion soundtrack (Disk 2) was added on December 10, 2025 as a free update to existing soundtrack owners. Since the DLC's release, the developer has issued bug fix patches (December 17, 2025 and January 28, 2026) to polish the experience, and a post on December 10, 2025 closed with "we'll be back soon with joyful news" — a friendly sign-off rather than a commitment to specific new content. Importantly, the developer explicitly framed the game as having "a closed ending" with limited room to expand, and characterized the DLC as something they were "pouring their time and effort into" as a one-time, meaningful addition. Both DLC items listed in the store are released. The developer has no announced future content. Their own words describe SANABI as a tightly scoped, complete experience, and the one promised post-launch content has shipped. The game is content-complete as of the DLC's November 27, 2025 release.
