Sandboxels launched on Steam on May 16, 2025 and has maintained a very active update cadence. The developer has shipped six major updates: v1.11.2 at launch (May 16, 2025), v1.12 (July 17, 2025), v1.13 (December 17, 2025), v1.13.2 (January 11, 2026), v1.14 (March 8, 2026), and most recently v1.15 on July 14, 2026 — titled "Update of the Century." Each update has added substantial new content including new elements, tools, machines, physics improvements, and UI overhauls. In the v1.15 post, the developer explicitly stated "We have a lot of plans for Sandboxels going forward," confirming the game's development pipeline is still very much active. As of today (August 19, 2026), the last major update was just over a month ago, comfortably within the historical cadence of roughly 1–4 months between major releases.
