Scary Horror

Scary Horror launched as a free-to-play analog horror game on August 18, 2024. Since then, Skilkihodin Studio has maintained an active post-launch update cadence with regular patches and seasonal content events. The studio has shipped two rounds of seasonal events: a Halloween event on November 3, 2024 and a New Year event on December 31, 2024, then repeated both in 2025 — the Halloween event returned on October 27, 2025, and the New Year 2026 event launched on December 26, 2025. Alongside these, the team has shipped multiple feature patches (v1.3, v1.4, v1.4.1, v1.6) adding systems like an in-game pause menu, gamepad support, localization improvements, and hidden secrets. The developer addressed a communications gap in October 2025, explaining they had lost access to the project files due to a forgotten password. By December 26, 2025, they confirmed they had recovered access and are "back and ready to keep supporting the project." This directly resolved what had appeared to be a concern. The last developer communication was on December 26, 2025. As of today, September 24, 2026, that is approximately nine months of silence — longer than the roughly twelve-month gap between major seasonal events in the established pattern. However, the developer's annual cadence of seasonal events (Halloween in late October/early November and New Year in late December) means a Halloween 2026 event would be expected within the next few weeks, consistent with the established pattern. The developer has not announced the end of development, and their explicit December 2025 statement of continued support further confirms ongoing intent. The game remains within the expected window for the next seasonal update.
