School Years

School Years launched on October 4, 2019 as the first episode of a planned three-part visual novel series, with the store description explicitly describing future episodes covering university life and adult life. Two DLC items have been released — a lossless music pack on January 8, 2020, and an additional story DLC on May 16, 2022 — but a third DLC, Episode 2, remains listed on the store as unreleased with no release date attached. Despite Episode 2 being listed, developer activity has been essentially silent for years. The last known developer post was on June 3, 2020, announcing optimization work, bug fixes, and a community creative workshop. Before that, an English localization patch was released on January 23, 2020 with a note that a Japanese version was in development. No further updates, patch notes, or announcements have appeared since June 3, 2020. The combination of an unreleased Episode 2 on the store and nearly six years of developer silence — with no explanation provided — raises serious questions about whether development is continuing. The promised sequel content has not materialized, and there is no public word from the developer on the current state of the project.
