Evaluation

SCP: 5K is an Early Access game that has been in active development since its February 2022 launch. The game has received five major content updates during Early Access: Update 0.14 (May 15, 2024), Update 0.15 (October 30, 2024), Update 0.16 / Ghosts of the South Gate (March 5, 2025), Update 0.17 / The Discover Program (August 20, 2025), and a substantial follow-up feature patch (0.17.1) on October 30, 2025. On March 4, 2026, developer Affray Interactive announced they had secured a publishing deal with Balor Games — a new indie label founded by former Humble Games leadership — and stated the studio had "turned with full force toward 1.0." This directly addressed any questions about the project's viability and forward momentum. Today, July 2, 2026, Affray published its most detailed development update yet: a formal production roadmap announcement explaining that, with Balor Games' support, they have pivoted away from incremental update-by-update releases and are now building directly toward a complete 1.0 launch. The announcement confirms the team has finished 2 of 5 production milestones and describes 1.0 as "the biggest update to SCP: 5K ever" — completing the Area-12 main campaign with nearly double the current playable content, new SCPs, core player feature improvements, and upgraded enemy behaviors. No 1.0 release date has been set yet, but the developer states communication will increase as they approach completion. The Omni Edition DLC, available since April 2026, explicitly promises 3 additional campaign missions to be developed and released after the base game reaches 1.0, meaning post-launch content is also already committed. The store description continues to describe the game as Early Access "as we continue to work towards a completed full release."

About this game

The SCP Foundation has gone dark. Disturbing intel from one of the many Foundation sites, Area-12, an underground biological research and containment facility in West Virginia, has been forwarded to an anomalous branch of the FBI, the Unusual Incidents Unit (UIU).

Upon arrival the UIU are ambushed and trapped within Area-12 by a facility wide lock-down, leaving you alone and without backup. For reasons yet unclear, Area-12 has adopted a new agenda: creating weaponized hybrids of anomalous creatures. Now the UIU must get to the bottom of “why” and stop them before these monstrosities are unleashed on innocent civilians.

Anomalies are reality-defying objects, artifacts and creatures that inhabit the cracks in our world. These anomalies are what the SCP Foundation was supposed to contain; and their anomalous nature makes them dangerous to the likes of you.
