Sea Chronicles

Released Apr 2025

A sinking ship. Too many SpongeBob references. Not enough explanations. Escape the ship. Collect bugs (actual insects).

Evaluation

Sea Chronicles launched on April 16, 2025, following a demo period that began in October 2023. In the days immediately after launch, the developer pushed a series of small patches (updates #9, #10, and #11 between April 17–24, 2025) addressing bugs and adding minor quality-of-life improvements. Before that, during the demo phase, the developer added content updates such as a new ending and new crafting options (June 2024) as well as NPC and room additions (November 2023). The most telling signal comes from a January 17, 2026 post in which the developer announced they are now working on an entirely new game — "Stuck in a Well with a Frog" — described as a spiritual successor with the same humor and style. This post frames Sea Chronicles as a completed work and redirects players' attention to the next project. No future content, DLC, expansions, or updates for Sea Chronicles have been announced. There is no DLC listing of any kind. The post-launch update activity tapered off quickly after the April 2025 launch patches and has not resumed. Taken together, the game launched as a complete, self-contained experience, received a handful of polish patches shortly after release, and the developer has since moved on to a new project. Sea Chronicles appears to be a finished product.
