Evaluation
Shan Gui is a short, linear visual novel that launched on August 19, 2014. Following release, the developer issued a series of patches focused on translation improvements, bug fixes, engine updates, and localization additions (Russian in November 2014, French in December 2014). The most substantial post-launch content update was version 1.30 on April 22, 2015, which remade the voice acting for all characters except one. The final recorded update, version 1.32 on June 16, 2015, addressed lingering voice and audio issues and mentioned that all voice post-production "may" be redone at some point — but this was a vague, tentative note rather than a firm commitment, and no follow-up ever materialized.
Critically, a developer post from October 2, 2014 explicitly stated that the plan to redo the game's dubbing had been shelved due to insufficient sales revenue, and the October 20, 2014 post clarified that the English translation would receive one final revision and then no further changes would be made. These statements signal that the developer had largely drawn a line under ongoing work on the game. The only released DLC is the OST, which shipped on October 3, 2014. No unreleased DLC exists. There have been no developer communications of any kind since June 16, 2015 — over eleven years ago as of today's date of June 21, 2026. The game is a self-contained, finite visual novel with no announced future content, no live service elements, and a development history that wound down definitively in mid-2015.
Evidence
Developer states that the upcoming English translation revision will be the last one regardless of player satisfaction, citing exhaustion of time and resources on the translation effort.
Developer explicitly states that plans to redo the game's voice dubbing have been shelved due to the game not reaching expected sales.

Shan Gui is a short, linear, kinetic visual-novel set in Nanjing's gorgeous Purple Mountain. It follows the adventure of two young girls as they tour the park, attempting to recount faded childhood memories. Han Hui is moody and depressed until she eventually becomes enraptured by He Jia's overwhelming warmth and happiness. In He Jia, Han Hui finds respite from her sadness and a brand new friend... a friend who may be more than she suggests.
