Shark Attack Deathmatch 2 launched on July 26, 2019 after a period of Early Access development. The game received its substantive content updates — including new maps, shark species, and game modes — between 2015 and 2016 while still in Early Access. After the 1.0 release, developer activity dropped off significantly. The most recent developer communication was a bug fix patch on November 3, 2022 to address a crash on 11th Gen Intel CPUs — a pure compatibility fix with no content component.
In July 2021, the developer announced a new title called Shark Slayer, signaling that the studio had moved its primary focus to a new project. A May 2017 post acknowledged the team was "juggling things to keep dev going" as a two-person studio, which further contextualizes the eventual wind-down of active development on this title.
