S.P.A.T. has been in Early Access since August 27, 2021 and has received consistent updates over the years, progressing from version 0.50 in August 2022 through to version 0.76 in January 2025. The developer has shipped five major content updates across this period, including new monsters, maps, quest systems, and recurring Halloween events. On February 2, 2024, the developer posted a significant announcement: they were beginning work on a new game called Dreadweave, a separate horror extraction shooter. Crucially, they explicitly stated: "don't worry, I won't stop developing S.P.A.T. until I release version 1.0." This is a clear commitment to continue development through to a full 1.0 launch. Subsequent updates in March 2024, May 2024, October 2024, and January 2025 confirmed they held to that promise. The January 7, 2025 update (version 0.76) mentioned the developer had "started working on a new swamp map," and earlier posts noted that a removed map was being rebuilt with additional alpha monsters planned. These are outstanding content commitments that have not yet been delivered. However, the last confirmed developer communication was January 7, 2025. As of June 23, 2026, that represents over 17 months of silence — the longest gap in the game's update history by a significant margin. Given the developer is simultaneously working on another title and the 1.0 release remains undelivered, there is genuine uncertainty about whether development is still actively progressing on schedule.
