Depth launched in November 2014 and received years of content updates. In January 2022, the developer formally announced the game was being "sunsetted," stating there would be no further substantial content updates going forward, though events and server support would continue. In July 2024, server regions were reduced from five to three. However, the situation changed significantly in 2026. By May 2026, Ammobox Studios was back working on Depth, teasing an upcoming roadmap and referencing months of behind-the-scenes infrastructure and planning work. On June 5, 2026, they launched a brand new map called "Containment" and published a 2026 roadmap, describing this phase as "testing the waters" and "a new beginning." They explicitly stated: "If we do this right, we hope this is only the beginning. We have bigger ideas and plans in mind." Development has continued actively since then. On July 17, 2026 — just over a month before today's assessment — the developer released a free Bull shark skin called "Osseus" and announced that a free weapon skins pack is currently in development for the following month. They also opened a community vote to determine the next cosmetic reward, further signaling that content planning is ongoing and iterative. The 2022 sunsetting announcement has clearly been superseded by these 2026 actions and communications. The developer's most recent statements confirm new content is actively being made and more is on the way.
