Evaluation

Shattered Planet launched on July 3, 2014. In the months immediately following launch, Kitfox Games shipped a series of patches and feature updates — adding Mac support, new class abilities and upgrade systems, and various bug fixes. The last development-relevant update was version 2.1.2, posted on October 22, 2014, which addressed some bugs and clarified datalog entries. The post even noted that a previously-listed companion (the Turret) had been removed from the datalog because it "never made it into the game," suggesting the team was wrapping up loose ends rather than planning new content. After October 2014, no further patches, feature updates, or content announcements were made for Shattered Planet. The one post from 2019 (June 11, 2019) was an announcement for a completely different Kitfox game, Lucifer Within Us — not anything related to Shattered Planet. The 50 posts scanned show no major content releases at any point after launch, and developer communication for this game specifically ceased by late 2014. The store description contains no language suggesting ongoing updates, a roadmap, or planned DLC. There are no DLC listings of any kind. This game launched as a complete, self-contained roguelike and received only a brief post-launch support window in 2014 before development concluded.

About this game

Explore a dangerous planet that's different every time and try to survive!

The Galactic Union's job for you is clear: research the alien wildlife -- for science! However, in this case, researching may include lasers, explosions, hungry aliens, space sushi, and other similarly delicious-or-terrifying hazards. In-between missions, use scrap metal you've collected to upgrade your stats.

Equipment

With the amazing miracle of Science, you too can discover more than 200 incredible lost technologies such as the Bucket or the Action Figure. Collect them all to stock your space station with piles of toys, weapons, and creatures, like the hoarder you've always wanted to be.

Alien Frenemies

Look, we all love aliens. But they don't always love us back. That's why we invented DOMESTICATION. The era of pet aliens has been one of many slimy, tentacled tummy-rubs... but next, we discovered a new problem: sometimes our pets wanted to go other places, do other things, or die prematurely. That's why we invented CLONING, to bring back our pets whenever we miss them. Science! Solving problems, every day.

Plus

  • Completely Procedurally Generated Levels

  • Everyone gets the same Daily Challenge - compare your progress with your friends

  • Class system - each clone skin has a different advantage

Whether you survive or die, you'll come away better than you started!
