Evaluation

ShipShaper: Falconeer Chronicles entered Steam Early Access on September 2, 2026, just two days before this assessment. The developer, Tomas Sala, and publisher Wired Productions have been very clear that this is the beginning of an ongoing development journey toward a full 1.0 launch. In a pre-launch announcement on August 26, 2026, the publisher confirmed that Tomas will be adding "various historical guns and other themed items, such as Viking themed items to the game throughout Early Access." The July 31, 2026 release date announcement further described the Early Access launch as "the start of ShipShaper's journey towards a full 1.0 launch, where more features and updates will be introduced along the way," and noted that major features like airships are "certainly under consideration." A roadmap was also mentioned as being in preparation. True to this promise, the developer has already shipped two feature updates in the two days since launch (September 2–3, 2026), with a third beta update already available as of September 4, 2026, adding a full physics simulation system. The pace of updates and the developer's direct engagement on the Steam forums and Discord strongly indicate active, ongoing development. The game is clearly positioned as an unfinished product that will grow with community feedback — the developer has repeatedly described it as evolving in dialogue with players.

About this game

The joy of designing boats and ships, nothing more, nothing less.

I’ve always loved ships and boats. Tall ships, steamers, pre-dreadnought french monstrosities, I love 'em all!
ShipShaper is an explorative ship builder I made for the simple pleasure of shaping boats and ships. You pull, push, and drag forms into place, creating everything from humble fishing vessels to tall ships, ironclads, and early dreadnoughts.
You can create historical ships, fantasy ships, steampunk you name it.

It's a boat designer married to experimental interfaces that are intended to take away the tedium from designing boats.  No 3D skills required, no endless stacks of cubes, just some organic shaping and attaching props and functional items to create whatever ship you want.

When you’re done, you can place your ships into a world and sail them,  the game does a proper analysis of your creation, its propulsion, hull shape and weight, all in order so you can properly enjoy and test your creation.

As an homage to my modding roots, I am also adding a 3D FBX e xport option, not just for 3D printing but also for modding and other indies.  ShipShaper will come with a license to use the ships you create in any way you want for your own game development, 3d Printing, board games or modding venture.

ShipShaper is about creating a foundational technology that will power my own future games, connect my franchise but also empower other creators to have fun with ships and have a usable output, game-ready and usable.

Features:

  • Free-form building

  • Responsive shaping

  • Expanding library of details and props

  • Test your ship, get sailing behavior that is derived from your design.

  • Export FBX or STL 3d files with a license to use how you see fit.

  • Export to Bulwark: Falconeer Chronicles

  • Export to Future sailing game under development
