Sid Meier's Civilization: Beyond Earth launched on October 23, 2014 as a complete, standalone strategy game. Its post-launch content cycle consisted of a map pack DLC (Exoplanets Map Pack, November 26, 2014) and one major expansion, Rising Tide, which shipped on October 8, 2015. Following Rising Tide's release, Firaxis delivered two substantial balance and feature patches in October and November 2015, with the last developer communication specific to Beyond Earth dated November 30, 2015. No further content, patches, or announcements for Beyond Earth have been made since that date. The announcement of Civilization VI in May 2016 strongly signals that Firaxis had moved on from Beyond Earth as a development focus. All DLC listed on the store is released, and no unreleased content has been announced. The game's April 2026 appearance in the Firaxis 30th Anniversary Sale is simply a legacy catalog discount, not a sign of ongoing development. Beyond Earth is a complete product with its full intended content cycle concluded.

- Seed the Adventure: Establish your cultural identity by choosing one of eight different expedition sponsors, each with its own leader and unique gameplay benefits. Assemble your spacecraft, cargo & colonists through a series of choices that directly seed the starting conditions when arriving at the new planet.
