Evaluation

Silent Sector launched on February 17, 2021 as a full 1.0 release. The developer shipped two major post-launch content expansions: Update 1.1.0 (Homebase, March 27, 2021) and Update 1.2 – Attack of the Mutant Cubes (September 10, 2021). The September 2021 post described that second expansion as "the final content update," adding a new faction and quest series as the intended capstone of the game's planned story content. Despite that, Rake in Grass has continued improving the game with meaningful technical and gameplay updates. Update 1.5 (March 9, 2023) added gameplay changes and new events. Update 1.7 (December 22, 2025) was a substantial release, porting the game to a new engine and adding full mod support — the developer noted they thought the game "still has a lot to offer." Updates 1.8 (March 16, 2026) and 1.8.1 (April 7, 2026) followed with gameplay fixes and a redesigned ship shield system. The two major post-launch content releases came roughly six months apart (March 2021 and September 2021), but the game's cadence since then has been feature patches and bug fixes rather than named expansions. The developer has not announced any new story content or DLC. However, the consistent stream of feature-level updates — most recently on April 7, 2026, just six months before today's date — and the developer's own comment that the game "still has a lot to offer" indicate that Rake in Grass continues to actively work on the product. No statement declaring the game fully finished has been made.

About this game

Silent Sector is an old-school open world sci-fi RPG with frenetic battles, crude humor, loose morals and cows. Created with endless love; especially for fans of space pirates, sci-fi westerns and alien encounters!

Silent Sector takes us to a remote part of the galaxy where several factions fight each other over the profits in a new gold rush - in pursuit of an extraordinarily valuable mineral called Eldorite.

Our hero comes into this Wild West universe and very quickly loses both their ship and cargo. You must find a way to repay the debt and take your revenge against Admiral Zed. This truly miserable corner of the universe offers you a chance to try your luck at becoming a successful merchant, rich miner, feared mercenary or a famous adventurer.

In the game you will find:

  • Space sim, adventure story, and quick dogfights all in one package.
  • Crawl the large semi-randomly-generated open world space in dozens unique ships.
  • More guns, missiles, lasers and upgrades than a space cow cannot count.
  • Help one of 7 factions destroy their rivals in a series of breathtaking quests and witness the horrible aftermath of your choices!
  • Explore the mysteries of the universe and fulfill countless of random quests and events full of crude humor.
  • Enjoy an atmospheric Wild West inspired soundtrack!
