Skul: The Hero Slayer launched into 1.0 on January 20, 2021 and received a substantial run of post-launch content. The major content milestones were: the Dark Mirror update (January 12, 2023), which added a full new mode with story content; and the Demon King Castle Defense update (November 16, 2023, version 1.8.0), which the developer explicitly described as the content that would "finally conclude Skul's narrative" and was marketed as "the major free content that will wrap up Skul's journey with a bang." The Mythology Pack paid DLC (also released November 16, 2023) shipped alongside this final story update. Following version 1.8.0, the developer released only balance and feature patches: version 1.9.0 (April 5, 2024) adding a new skull and balance adjustments, and version 1.9.1 (June 27, 2024) with further item tuning. There have been no developer communications of any kind after June 27, 2024 — nearly two years of silence as of today (June 22, 2026). Both DLC entries are released with no unreleased DLC listed on the store. The developer's own language in November 2023 ("wrap up Skul's journey," "conclude Skul's narrative") signals that the story content was intentionally brought to a close. The post-1.8.0 patches were maintenance and balancing work, not new major content. With the narrative concluded, all DLC shipped, no announced future content, and nearly two years of silence since the last update, the game is complete.

The human race attacking the Demon King's castle is nothing new and has happened countless times before. What makes this time different though, is that the Adventurers decided to join forces with the Imperial Army and the 'Hero of Caerleon' to lead a full onslaught in hopes of wiping out the Demons once and for all. They attacked the Demon stronghold with overwhelming numbers and succeeded in its total destruction.
