Smooth Operators

Smooth Operators launched in June 2014 and received a handful of patches in its first few months. Development on the original game then wound down as the developer shifted focus to a sequel. After roughly five years of work, Smooth Operators 2 was released on September 22, 2022 — which was announced as the culmination of the developer's efforts moving forward. On May 4, 2026, the developer posted their first update to the original game in over a decade, explaining that a Windows 11 compatibility issue had broken the game and that they had only recently managed to fix it despite losing the source code in the interim. This post is a maintenance fix, not a signal of renewed content development. The developer explicitly directed players toward Smooth Operators 2 as the current focus, describing it as a sequel they "highly recommend." There are no unreleased DLC entries, no announced future content for this game, and no sustained post-launch update pattern that would suggest more is coming. The original Smooth Operators is a finished product; the developer's energy has long since moved to the sequel. The May 2026 patch simply restored the game's compatibility — the content itself has been complete since the developer pivoted to Smooth Operators 2.
