Spellweaver

Spellweaver is a free-to-play digital card game that launched in February 2016 and received regular card set releases and feature updates through 2020. The game was developed and maintained by a single developer (Ivko) after the original team dissolved. On April 4, 2022, the developer published a candid post acknowledging that personal hardships during the pandemic had made it impossible to continue development at the pace originally planned. In that post, Ivko explicitly stated that "for the time being, there will be no updates for Spellweaver" and framed a forthcoming balance patch as a final gesture — described as "one last (for now) balance update." This constitutes a clear developer statement that active content development has ended. The developer has committed to keeping the servers online at personal expense, and this was demonstrated in April 2025 when a Steam API change caused login issues. Ivko personally dug up old server code and redeployed it to keep the game accessible, noting in that post that it "warms my heart that there are still so many of you that continue to play and support the game 3 years after the last update." This confirms that the April 2022 statement marking the end of updates still stands — the 2025 activity was purely server maintenance, not new content. All four DLC items listed on the store are released. The last content update was the December 2020 card package. The developer has not announced any future content for Spellweaver itself (a separate new game set in the Spellweaver universe was mentioned in 2022, but that is a different project). The game is complete and being kept online as a maintained live service in the most minimal sense — the servers are up, but no new content is coming.
