Evaluation
Starless Abyss launched on Steam on April 25, 2025 and has received consistent post-launch updates across multiple categories. Within the first two weeks of launch, the developer shipped balance and bug fix patches (April 29, 2025). The first named major content update — "Spoils of the Abyss" — arrived on May 8, 2025, overhauling the rewards system and adding substantial new content. The developer closed that post with "there's still more to come." A further feature patch was published on June 10, 2025, which ended with "stay tuned for more updates in the future." A large content patch arrived on September 3, 2025, adding ten new artifacts, four new cards, three new boss rewards, and two new ritual cards — described by the developer as a "MONSTER update." A security-related patch followed on October 7, 2025. The game then launched on Nintendo Switch on February 18, 2026 — the most recent developer communication on record. No announcement of concluded development has been made at any point. The established cadence of major content drops (roughly every 3–4 months from launch through February 2026) places today's date — September 24, 2026 — outside the historical cadence window, as approximately seven months have passed since the last developer post. However, the developer's own statements consistently indicated ongoing support, and there has been no signal of development ending. The silence is approaching a point of concern but has not yet crossed into genuine uncertainty given the game's track record and the absence of any distress signals from the studio.
