Stay Close launched on October 14, 2016, and patches followed in the weeks and months after. A large update on June 30, 2017 reworked monster AI, level design and loading speed. On October 11, 2026, the developer published Update 1.05.19, which adds six new languages, new menus and settings, key rebinding, repaired achievements and several co-op fixes. The post says a bigger update may follow if players ask for one in the discussions. Because the studio shipped a substantial update this week and continues to respond to player reports, the game is still being actively worked on. Earlier substantial patches were spaced far apart, so the timing of any future content is not predictable.

Stay Close is an experimental indie game with unseen and unique gameplay. The story centers on an unfortunate couple who stumble upon a mysterious town and struggle to find their way out. There are two alternatives to the story depending if single player or co-op mode is played.
