Evaluation
Steam Marines launched out of Early Access on September 24, 2014, after roughly two and a half years of development including about a year on Steam Early Access. At launch, the developer described the game as feature-complete, with all five human ship decks, the Alien Deck, all marine classes, the perk system, bosses, and procedural generation all in place.
Following the 1.0 release, the developer continued to monitor and maintain the game, but there is no evidence of any planned major expansions or additional content being announced post-launch. The most recent developer communication on record is a March 12, 2021 bug fix update that addressed a Steam Achievements issue and minor UI fixes — a small maintenance patch, not a content release.
There are no DLC listings, no season passes, no roadmaps, and no developer statements indicating future content. The store description describes a complete, self-contained game. The developer's pre-release statement noted the game would "not be abandoned" and bugs would be squashed, which aligns with the maintenance-only post-launch activity observed. With the last communication dating to March 2021 and no outstanding commitments, the game is best understood as a finished product that launched complete in September 2014 and has received only occasional maintenance since.
Evidence
Steam Marines officially released out of Early Access with all content in place: five human decks, Alien Deck, all marine classes, perk system, and final boss.
Last developer communication: a small maintenance patch fixing Steam Achievements and minor UI issues. No content additions, no mention of future plans.

Permadeath
Build your marines up into long range or up close death machines, but don't expect any mercy. Death is permanent and fallen marines are gone forever. Finding survivors not guaranteed.
Turn and Squad Based Gameplay
Command up to four marines, each with their own gear, talents, and Action Points. Positioning is critical - even a lone enemy can be lethal! Sight and snipe or funnel enemies into a choke point and blow them up!
Procedural Generation
The steampunk spaceship is composed of multiple decks you must progress through. Different environments and creatures await, and you'll never know for sure what lies beyond the next corner.
Score, Difficulty, and New Game Plus
Get rated on your overall performance. Manage to fight your way past 30 levels of mayhem? New Game Plus offers fresh challenges. Four levels of difficulty with one being for the truly masochistic!

- Five marine classes - long range death, shotgun knockback, grenade launchers, all to help the squad
- Four ranks for promotion and talent tree access
- Five perks to further differentiate each marine
- Exoskeleton suits stripped from the hulks of dead enemies - flamethrowers and face punching
- Deck bosses that will challenge you but do not negate the tactics you have learned (no "immunities"!)
Procedural Generation
The steampunk spaceship is composed of multiple decks you must progress through. Different environments and creatures await, and you'll never know for sure what lies beyond the next corner.
- Five human ship decks with a sixth Alien Deck
- Procedural decks with destructible walls, high/low ground, and tactical variations
- Randomized weapons, armor, and enemy units
