All staff at 5 Fortress have been laid off, and the studio shut down both development and operations. The developer stated that servers would remain online until the end of April 2026, after which Striden would be removed from Steam. The game is no longer available for purchase, confirming it has been delisted. The studio cited a series of compounding challenges: a cyberattack during early access that drained resources meant for content and bug fixes, difficulty retaining players when major competing titles launched, and a catch-22 where publishers wanted to see more active players before investing, but the studio lacked marketing funds to attract them. The final major update — the Survival game mode, launched on March 26, 2026 — was described as the studio's last attempt to attract enough players and investment to survive. That effort did not succeed, and no further development is planned.
