SubwaySim Hamburg launched on May 16, 2023 and received its largest update — the "MEGA Update" — on May 16, 2024, which overhauled more than 70% of the game's source code and added a Scenario Mode and new vehicle variant (DT5.1). Following the MEGA Update, the developer (then operating as HR Innoways, now rebranded as Simuverse Interactive) published a roadmap in July 2024 mentioning a battery locomotive DLC (AL1) and a planned line closure scenario as near-future goals.
However, on December 16, 2025, the developer published a clear statement explaining that development focus had fully shifted to their successor title, SubwaySim 2. The post explicitly states: "While SubwaySim Hamburg will remain available, all new features, systems, and future expansions will be developed exclusively for SubwaySim 2." This directly supersedes all earlier roadmap commitments for SubwaySim Hamburg. The AL1 DLC and other planned features referenced in the 2024 roadmap were not delivered to SubwaySim Hamburg — instead, these improvements were channelled into SubwaySim 2, which launched on April 29, 2025 and includes a reworked Hamburg line with the new features.
The developer's December 2025 statement is an explicit, unambiguous declaration that SubwaySim Hamburg will receive no further content. The MEGA Update on May 16, 2024 represents the last major content release for the game.
