Evaluation

Summa Expeditionis launched its full 1.0 version on May 6, 2026 after roughly 1.5 years in Early Access and over six years of total development. Since then, the developer has maintained an active and well-communicated post-launch development track. The game's first major post-1.0 update — the Greece Campaign (version 1.1) — shipped today, September 17, 2026. It adds an entirely new campaign set during the Mithridatic Wars in Boeotia, with new coastal and river terrain, Mediterranean biomes, four new factions (Macedonia, Athens, the Aetolians, and Sparta), a new dialogue and character relationship system, an AI-assisted in-game assistant (Lar), and new camp management tools including a Task View, Quartermaster screen, event log, and camp relocation feature. A tutorial campaign set in Italy was also added alongside it. This was the Greece Campaign the developer had announced back in May 2026 and previewed across four development diaries between August 6 and August 28, 2026 — that announced content has now fully shipped. Prior to this, the developer released a substantial feature patch (version 1.0.2) on June 19, 2026, introducing soldier promotions, new buildings, extensive bug fixes, and performance improvements. The developer has not announced any specific future content beyond what has now shipped, but has demonstrated a clear and sustained pattern of major updates since the 1.0 launch. No statement indicating the end of content development has been made.

About this game

Establish Rome’s frontier in untamed barbarian territory. Build a legionary camp, command your soldiers, and carve a Roman stronghold out of the wilderness.

You are a Roman legionary sent to the edge of the Empire. In the wild north of Hispania, far from the safety of Rome, your mission is simple: establish a foothold, secure the territory, and survive whatever the frontier throws at you.

Start with a small expedition camp and transform it into a thriving Roman stronghold. Gather resources, construct fortifications, recruit and manage your soldiers, and lead your people through a harsh and unpredictable land. As your influence grows, so will your responsibilities... and your path from common legionary to respected centurion.

BUILD A ROMAN CAMP

Construct barracks, workshops, and defenses to turn a small expedition into a thriving frontier camp.

COMMAND YOUR LEGIONARIES

Assign soldiers to gather resources, craft equipment, and defend your settlement.

SURVIVE THE FRONTIER

Face hostile tribes, harsh conditions, and the dangers of unexplored lands.

RISE THROUGH THE RANKS

Grow from a lone legionary into a respected commander of Rome’s expedition.

Summa Expeditionis is more than a game: it’s a test of wit, courage, and leadership. Will you answer Rome’s call?
