Oxygen launched on April 7, 2023 and received a healthy stream of post-launch updates. The developer shipped numerous feature patches through 2023, added a new map ("Turquoise Ocean") in April 2024 as the second major content release, and then issued a small bug fix on January 3, 2025 — which is the last recorded communication from the developer.
The two major content releases (the new Turquoise Ocean map in April 2024, and earlier content in the post-launch period) do not establish a strong recurring cadence — the gap between them was roughly a year, and the updates prior to that were mostly feature patches rather than substantial new content. Crucially, a March 2024 news post announced the developer's new game, United Penguin Kingdom, suggesting the studio's focus had shifted. Since January 3, 2025, there have been no further posts, patches, or announcements for Oxygen — a silence of over 17 months as of today (June 21, 2026).
There are no unreleased DLC entries in the store listing, no announced future content, no roadmap, and no developer statement promising more updates. The January 3, 2025 bug fix appears to be a final maintenance patch rather than a signal of ongoing development. Given the extended silence, the studio's public pivot to a new title, and the absence of any outstanding commitments, Oxygen appears to have concluded its post-launch support cycle.

STORY
A natural disaster hit us and brought humanity to the verge of extinction. Only a few survived because of "Large Igneous Provinces", these are volcanoes that don't explode but huge cracks open in the Earth's crust and lava just starts bubbling out, oozing across the landscape, releasing tons of toxic gases. The most dangerous thing about an igneous province is that it can keep up the oozing for centuries. With the wind effect, these gases spread all over the world and changed the atmospheric composition. One of these toxic magmatic gases reduced the oxygen level in the air. Sadly, there’s only little oxygen left in the world. Before it's too late for humanity, the Oxygen Center is invented. It generates oxygen by electrolysis of underground water, and the required electricity is generated by using coal but you should be slowly moving away from coal towards sustainable sources of energy.
