Evaluation
The Last Haven launched out of Early Access on February 17, 2023 after roughly two and a half years of Early Access development. Since then, the developer has continued shipping updates at a sustained pace. Major content drops are spread across the game's full history: October 2020, October 2021, the 1.0 launch in February 2023, March 2023, and October 2023. Feature patches have continued regularly, with the most recent arriving on September 13, 2026 — just two days before today. This update added new weapons, reworked building mechanics, extensive weapon balance changes, law system changes, and overhauled localizations across ten languages, representing a substantial and ongoing development effort.
In June 2023, the lead developer posted a candid status update acknowledging real-world disruptions from the war in Ukraine but confirming the project remained in active development. That post outlined ambitious future plans, including a branching storyline, new locations, a US Army faction, and a planned DLC. No post has since walked back any of those plans, and the developer has continued shipping updates well after making those statements.
The developer has never announced that content development is complete. Given the long multi-year pattern of updates and a feature-rich patch landing as recently as September 13, 2026, the game is clearly still being actively worked on.
Evidence
Version 5.09.13 shipped: new weapons (Kar98k, Springfield), cemetery rework, extensive weapon balance changes across all categories, law system rebalance, and a major localization overhaul adding Ukrainian, Japanese, and Polish and revising nine existing languages.
Major global update (Version 3.02.27) shipped: new Cemetery building, resource return on demolition, increased storage limits, and numerous bug fixes.

Take command of the settlement
- Provide your people with the most necessary - food, heat, protective equipment.
