SWAT Commander: Prologue

SWAT Commander: Prologue is a free standalone preview of the full game, SWAT Commander — a separate Steam product currently in Early Access. The store description explicitly states it "does not reflect the final version of the game," and it gives players access to one mission ("Hot Reception") as a sample of the full experience. The developer has been actively communicating and updating both the Prologue and the full Early Access game. The full game launched into Early Access on July 31, 2025, and has received major new missions on February 27, 2026 ("The Blue Holster") and July 31, 2026 ("The Elite Society"), establishing a sustained cadence of new content roughly every five to six months. On July 30, 2026, the developer published a one-year anniversary post confirming Year 2 is "already in motion," naming a mission called "Highest Stakes," a campaign system, non-lethal equipment, and more small-map missions as upcoming content. The developer stated explicitly: "we're just getting started." On September 3, 2026, the developer published an updated roadmap reaffirming all of these features are actively being worked on, stating: "These are not hypotheticals, we're talking real stuff that's coming your way." Most recently, as of October 3–5, 2026, the developer launched and extended a public playtest specifically for the upcoming Campaign/Progression update — a system featuring mission progression, challenges, unlockable rewards, weapon and uniform customization, and stat tracking under a new save system. This is the most recent communication and confirms concrete content is imminent. Because the Prologue is an explicit preview of an unfinished, actively developed game with announced and in-progress content, players should expect the game to continue evolving.
