Sword Reverie

Sword Reverie is a VR action RPG that has been in Early Access since January 21, 2022. The developer acknowledged a significant slowdown in a February 25, 2024 post, citing financial difficulties over the prior year and a half, but confirmed they had expanded their team and were resuming regular updates. Since then, three major content updates have shipped: a February 2024 update (OpenXR transition, gameplay and UI improvements), a September 2024 update (doubled the player skill set to 16, 9 new enemy skills, visual upgrades), and a March 2025 update branded as the "1.0 Update" (further skill refinements, Japanese voice-over, multilingual subtitles, and broad optimization). A feature patch also shipped in November 2024. The March 2025 update's closing note — "we hope to bring you more exciting updates soon" — signals the team views this as an ongoing project rather than a completed one. As of today, October 8, 2026, the last major update was in March 2025, roughly 19 months ago. The established cadence between major updates has been roughly 6–9 months, so 19 months of silence is beyond that window. However, this is the same pattern seen before — the developer went silent for about a year and a half once before (mid-2022 to early 2024) and then returned. The game remains flagged as Early Access on Steam, meaning the developer has not formally declared it a finished product, and there has been no statement that development is complete. Given the prior extended silence that was eventually broken, and the absence of any closure statement, the game remains in active Early Access development, though the current silence is lengthening beyond the established cadence.
