Evaluation

System Shock (the 2023 remake by Nightdive Studios) launched on May 30, 2023, and has received a steady stream of post-launch patches and updates. Two notable major content updates were shipped: Patch 1.2 on April 11, 2024, which added a playable female Hacker character, a fully reworked final boss fight, cloud save support, and a sweeping set of gameplay improvements; and the "Parity Patch" (v2.1) on March 20, 2026, which brought all platforms to the same version with additional refinements to level design, music, controls, and UI. Between those, a feature patch (Update 1.3.0) landed on September 20, 2025, with gameplay and accessibility improvements. The September 2025 update mentioned "a larger update planned for System Shock remake on PC and consoles in November" — that promise was plausibly fulfilled by the March 2026 v2.1 Parity Patch, which the developer described as "a major milestone" representing the completion of cross-platform alignment. No future content has been announced since March 20, 2026, and no unreleased DLC exists on the store. The only DLC listed is the soundtrack, which released on June 16, 2023. The developer's messaging around v2.1 reads as a concluding milestone rather than a stepping stone to further content, and there has been no communication about additional updates in the roughly three months since. The game appears to have reached its final state with the Parity Patch.
Evidence
Version 2.1 'Parity Patch' launched, described as 'a major milestone' bringing all platforms to the same version. Developer thanked fans for patience and framed the update as the culmination of the game's journey from crowdfunding to present day. No future content mentioned.
