Evaluation
Taiji launched on September 9, 2022 as a complete, self-contained puzzle adventure game. Its only DLC is a soundtrack released on December 22, 2022 — no additional gameplay content has ever been announced or listed. The store description describes a finished world with no mention of upcoming content, seasons, or expansions.
Since launch, developer Matthew VanDevander has continued maintaining the game with bug fixes, performance optimizations, and quality-of-life improvements (such as multi-language support in February 2024 and a zoom mode in August 2024), but none of these constitute new content. Several patches were explicitly tied to an in-progress Nintendo Switch port, indicating the developer is still actively supporting the game on multiple platforms.
On September 11, 2025, Matthew posted a third-anniversary podcast celebrating the game — a retrospective in tone rather than a tease of future content. No new gameplay content, expansions, or updates to the game's scope have been announced at any point in the game's history.
The game launched as a finished product with a complete puzzle world, and the developer has never communicated plans to expand it beyond ongoing technical upkeep.

About this game
Taiji is an adventure puzzle-solving game set in a mysterious world full of puzzles. Unlike many adventure games, the puzzles in Taiji all use a consistent interface: a grid of tiles which can be toggled on or off.
Although this might seem simple, the consistency of the interface frees the player from guesswork or pixel hunting that happens in many adventure games. It is always clear what the player must interact with in order to solve the puzzle, but it is never entirely clear what they must do. There are many different areas in the game, each with their own visual and mechanical themes. As you explore this dense world, it is important to think hard and to pay close attention, as vital clues are sometimes hidden in plain sight.
