The Battle of Sol launched out of Early Access on July 1, 2015. Following launch, the developer shipped one meaningful post-launch addition — Steam Workshop and custom mission support on July 21, 2015 — along with a handful of feature patches and bug fixes through early 2016. The last recorded developer communication was a Tobii EyeX update on January 27, 2016. At launch, the developer noted they would "have some news re: our next project very soon," signaling their attention was already shifting away from this title. No new content, roadmaps, or future plans have been communicated since January 2016. The store description reflects the game as shipped, with no mention of upcoming DLC or expansions. The game launched as a complete, single-player campaign experience and has received no post-launch content additions beyond the Steam Workshop feature. STORY SYNOPSIS
By the year 2500 Earth had become toxic and unsafe for human life. Pollution and overpopulation had ravaged the planet, forcing humanity to the stars. Colonies and settlements soon sprung up across the solar system, but man had not left its thirst for war behind. Then, they learned the Sun was dying, and everything changed. Only when faced with a threat greater than each other did the nations of man finally come together. The United Colonies of SOL (UCS) was born, its first and only mission: to locate a new home for mankind, safely beyond the doomed borders of our solar system.
Suit up and take on the role of the Lieutenant Williams and enigmatic Brother Aelius as you battle a mysterious enemy within humanity's solar system and beyond!
