The Cursed Hour

The Cursed Hour launched on November 16, 2024 as a free-to-play cooperative horror game. Since launch, the developer has shipped a consistent cadence of meaningful content updates. On January 17, 2025, the White Mother Expansion introduced a new ghost type with unique possession mechanics, QTE-based survival systems, and a reworked map. On February 28, 2025, an entirely new PvP game mode arrived, letting one player take on the role of the ghost while others play as hunters. On April 28, 2025, a performance optimization patch addressed lighting and mesh systems. Then on October 29, 2025, a seasonal Halloween update brought a mansion overhaul, atmospheric changes, and limited-time encounters. The major content releases — January 2025, then October 2025 — establish a cadence of roughly 9 months between headline drops, and the most recent one was October 29, 2025. As of today, September 24, 2026, approximately 11 months have passed since that last major update, which puts us at or just beyond the outer edge of the established cadence window. However, the developer has made no statement indicating development has concluded, and no announcement of a final update or completion has been made. The pattern of seasonal content (a Halloween update specifically) also suggests the developer may be working toward future seasonal drops.
