Evaluation

The Gallery - Episode 1: Call of the Starseed launched on April 5, 2016 as the first episode in a planned VR adventure series. Cloudhead Games followed it with Episode 2: Heart of the Emberstone, which launched on October 18, 2017. That release fulfilled the series continuation that Episode 1 had set up, and it was explicitly described as picking up directly where Episode 1 left off. Post-launch support for Episode 1 consisted of platform expansions (Oculus Touch support in January 2017, Windows Mixed Reality support in November 2017, Valve Index controller bindings in June 2019) and performance/bug fix patches. The only DLC released was the original soundtrack on April 5, 2017, and no additional DLC has been listed or announced. The last developer communication touching Episode 1 was a holiday bundle post on December 24, 2019, which was primarily promotional. Since then — and well before that, in terms of substantive content — Cloudhead Games has moved its focus to other projects, most notably Pistol Whip (launched November 2019), which the studio has actively developed and supported. No further content for Episode 1 has been announced at any point. The game's story continues in Episode 2, which is a separate product. Episode 1 itself is a self-contained chapter that shipped complete and received only maintenance-level updates after launch. The last meaningful developer communication referencing this title dates to December 24, 2019, and the last substantive update to the game itself was the Valve Index controller binding addition in June 2019. With no outstanding commitments, no unreleased DLC, and no developer statements about future content for this episode, the game is complete.
