Evaluation
The Great Rebellion launched on February 1, 2024 and received a series of post-launch free updates throughout 2024: a feature patch in April (achievements and Nightmare mode improvements), a feature patch in June (National Pride Month update), a major free update in July (White Boy Summer), and a final major free update in October (the Stonetoss update, adding a new playable character, weapons, items, and achievements). No further content updates have shipped since October 16, 2024.
The studio then shifted focus away from The Great Rebellion. In November 2025, the developer disclosed that Nintendo cancelled the planned Switch port of the game one day before release, causing a significant financial setback. In December 2025, the developer announced they would be pivoting their primary development efforts to a new game, Dverghold, with a February 2026 Steam Next Fest appearance for that game's demo. The developer has also previously announced a sequel, Hyper Rebellion: Blood & Circuits, via a crowdfunder in July 2025.
Taken together, the developer's communications since late 2025 are consistent with The Great Rebellion being a completed product. No new content has been announced or shipped for the game since October 2024, and the studio's public focus has moved to new projects. The only DLC ever released was the soundtrack, which shipped in April 2024. There are no unreleased DLC listings and no announced future content for The Great Rebellion itself.
Evidence
Developer announced pivot to focusing primarily on new game Dverghold following Nintendo Switch port cancellation, with The Great Rebellion sales being used to fund Dverghold's development.
Stonetoss free update launched — new character skin, weapons, items, and achievements. This is the last major content update shipped for the game.
