The Iron Oath launched into Early Access in 2022 and reached its 1.0 full release on November 2, 2023. At launch, the developer (Curious Panda Games) explicitly stated that while the campaign was complete, "there are still many more stories we want to tell in the world of Caelum" and expressed plans to continue development through 2024 and beyond.
True to that commitment, the studio published a 2024 roadmap on January 6, 2024, outlining plans for more quests, new enemies, new combat objectives, and additional content updates. They followed through with multiple feature patches throughout 2024, adding new quests and other content. In September 2024, they announced their next major update: a new playable class called the Executioner, a new mage enemy faction with unique bosses for each magical element, new quests tied to those enemies, and full controller/Steam Deck support — all bundled together. They hoped to deliver this before the end of 2024.
On December 19, 2024, the developer confirmed the update was not ready and would take longer, citing remaining implementation work and testing. They previewed the fully designed and animated Executioner class in detail, signaling the content was real and in progress.
However, no further communications have appeared since December 19, 2024. As of June 27, 2026 — more than 18 months after that last post — the announced major update has not shipped and the developer has not provided any explanation for the delay. This silence far exceeds the studio's prior posting pattern, which had included regular updates throughout 2023 and 2024. The announced content remains outstanding and undelivered, making the current development status uncertain.
