The Legend of Khiimori has been in Steam Early Access since March 3, 2026, and Aesir Interactive has maintained an exceptionally active development pace with major content updates shipping roughly every 4–6 weeks since launch. Five major content updates have shipped since launch: the Daybreak Update (April 23, 2026) added Hot Springs, Bandit Caches, Photo Mode, and reworked Horse Training; the Peaceful Wilds Update (June 1, 2026) introduced Wild Horse Taming and improved animal AI; the Corruption Update (August 4, 2026) added the game's central Corruption antagonist system, Character Survival mechanics, a new Breton horse breed, and a boss encounter; and the Wildlife Update (September 23, 2026) added Fishing, the Animal Ledger, new herd-behavior wildlife, Cargo Protection items, and rebuilt two core game systems (inventory and missions) from the ground up. A further stability patch (0.12.3) followed on September 30, 2026 — the same day as today's assessment. On September 25, 2026, the developer published a full roadmap outlining planned content between now and a targeted Fall 2027 release date. This includes all outstanding Kickstarter stretch goals and additional features the team has decided to implement. The Wildlife Update itself signals more to come: the new Animal Ledger contains entries for animals that are not yet in the game, and the update announcement explicitly states that more wildlife will be added throughout Early Access. The developer has communicated continuously, with posts in every month since launch and multiple posts per week during update cycles. The game is clearly well into an active Early Access development program with substantial content still planned and a clear public commitment to a 2027 full release.
