Evaluation
The Maw launched on March 9, 2009 as a complete 3D action/adventure game with eight levels. The developer released three DLC packs in quick succession: Brute Force and River Redirect both on March 16, 2009, and Speeder Lane on April 29, 2009. All three DLC packs have shipped, and no further content has been announced or released since April 2009. The store description references "additional levels available as downloadable content," which is fully satisfied by these three released packs. There is no indication of any planned future content, and no developer communications suggest ongoing development activity. The game appears to have launched as a finished product with a small set of add-on levels that completed its content cycle in 2009.

He can, however, absorb the traits of anything he eats, is virtually indestructible, and can grow to unlimited size. If he wasn't a danger to all life in the universe, he'd make the perfect pet. In this action/adventure game, he's the best friend of our hero Frank, and only by working together can Maw eat their way to freedom. The Maw was honored with the Audience Choice Award in the 2008 PAX-10 showcase of independent games, and is a finalist at this year's Independent Games Festival for Technical Excellence.
