Evaluation

The Swindle launched on July 28, 2015 as a complete, self-contained steampunk heist game. In the weeks following launch, developer Dan Marshall of Size Five Games pushed a rapid series of patches (v1.01 through v1.061) addressing bugs, balance issues, and adding a small quality-of-life move. The final patch, v1.061, shipped on September 1, 2015, and that post mentioned the developer was looking into a Daily Challenge Mode as a potential future addition — but no such mode was ever formally announced or released. After September 2015, developer communications about The Swindle ceased entirely. The next relevant post came on February 20, 2020, when Dan Marshall announced that his upcoming game Lair of the Clockwork God was nearly out, and noted that a Swindle sequel would only happen if that game sold well enough — indicating The Swindle itself was considered a finished product and that any follow-up would be an entirely separate game. Most recently, on January 14, 2026, Size Five Games announced a brand-new title, EARTH MUST DIE, with no mention of any further Swindle content. There are no unreleased DLC listings, no roadmap commitments, and no developer statements suggesting any further content for The Swindle. The game launched as a complete package and has been finished since its post-launch patch period concluded in September 2015.
Evidence
Dan Marshall confirmed a Swindle sequel was a possibility only if his new game Lair of the Clockwork God sold well enough — treating The Swindle itself as a finished product with no further content planned.
