The Wild Eight

The Wild Eight launched into Early Access in early 2017 and received regular updates throughout that period, including the Shadow Hunt major update on April 23, 2019. The game graduated to its full 1.0 release on October 3, 2019, which delivered the conclusion to the game's story — Act 2, resolving the Dark Matter mystery — along with a new biome, new ranged weapons, and creatures. At launch, the 1.0 announcement noted that PS4 and Xbox One ports were in the works, but stated "after that — what awaits The Wild Eight in the future? Only time will tell." This is a vague and non-committal statement, not a promise of additional content. Since the 1.0 release on October 3, 2019, there have been no further developer posts about The Wild Eight itself. The two news posts from 2024 (June 10 and July 15) are publisher-level announcements from HypeTrain Digital about entirely different games in their portfolio — they contain no mention of The Wild Eight whatsoever. The DLC list contains only a soundtrack (released February 8, 2017) and a Supporter Pack (released October 3, 2019) — both long shipped with no unreleased items. There is no season pass, no announced future DLC, and no roadmap for post-launch content. With the story concluded at 1.0, no post-launch major content updates in the nearly seven years since release, and no developer communications suggesting further development, the game appears to have launched as a complete product and received no post-launch content cycle.
