Touhou Big Big Battle

Touhou Big Big Battle launched on September 10, 2018 as a free-to-play Touhou fangame. All three paid DLC packs — The Justice Adventure Pack (April 21, 2020), Yuyuko's Food-hunting Adventure Pack (July 31, 2020), and BBB Stars (January 13, 2021) — have all been released. The game continues to receive active developer attention well beyond those DLC packs. The news history shows a sustained stream of balance patches running from 2025 through September 5, 2026 (the most recent post), with each patch touching dozens of characters, skills, and systems. These are substantive gameplay updates, not minor housekeeping. In July 2025, the developer announced a new co-op challenge mode called "Mutation Mode," explicitly describing it as still under development with more map mechanics and boss encounters to come. The first event was made available at announcement, but additional content was stated to be in progress. The developer has not since posted a follow-up confirming that Mutation Mode development has concluded, so this outstanding commitment remains. Additionally, each balance patch includes a seasonal reward update (new or reissued exclusive skins), indicating an ongoing seasonal content cycle that continues as of September 2026. The developer has made no announcement that development or support for the game is ending.
