Evaluation

Train Fever launched on September 4, 2014 and received a series of feature patches through late 2014, followed by its one and only DLC — the USA DLC — which shipped for free on February 27, 2015. That DLC is the last piece of content ever released for the game. By April 2016, Urban Games publicly announced they had shifted focus entirely to a successor title: Transport Fever. The studio described it as "a next generation transport simulation game" and a direct successor to Train Fever, promising new features including aircraft, ships, and campaigns. Transport Fever launched on November 8, 2016. From that point forward, there have been no further updates, announcements, or communications about Train Fever itself. The developer's own public statements make clear that Train Fever's development concluded when the studio moved on to Transport Fever. All DLC has been released, the successor game has been out since November 2016, and there has been no developer activity on Train Fever for nearly a decade. The game launched as a finished product and its post-launch content cycle — one free DLC — is fully complete.

About this game

Train Fever is a railroad-focused business simulation game. In other words, it's a modern-day Transport Tycoon with procedural content and a sophisticated city simulation.

It’s the year 1850, and there are great times ahead! Establish a transport company and be its manager. Build infrastructure such as railways and stations, purchase transportation vehicles and manage lines. Fulfill the people’s needs and watch cities evolve dynamically.

Train Fever runs on an engine specifically developed for this game. The engine has a great innovative scope and is specialized in procedural content and urban simulation. A key point is the fact that there is no grid that game objects have to be aligned to, allowing for a great degree of freedom.
