Evaluation
Tsugunohi launched on Steam on August 12, 2021 as a collection of nine J-horror episodes. Since then, the developer ImCyan has continued to expand the series with additional standalone releases and DLC sold on Steam. The first DLC, "Tsugunohi -Supernatural Supermarket-," released on February 2, 2023. A second standalone entry, "Tsugunohi -A Whisper from the Past-," launched on October 27, 2023. Most recently, a brand-new entry — "Tsugunohi -The Thread That Beckons to Heaven-" — was released on August 25, 2026, just two days before today's assessment date. The developer notes this new title introduces a chapter-based structure and a final player choice, while returning to the visual style of the earlier games. This is a series that continues to receive new content at an ongoing cadence, and the very recent release of a new entry confirms the developer is still actively producing Tsugunohi episodes for Steam. No developer statement signaling the end of the series has been made.
Evidence
A new Tsugunohi entry, 'The Thread That Beckons to Heaven,' launched on Steam with a chapter-based structure and a final player choice — the most recent content release in the series.
'Tsugunohi - A Whisper from the Past-' released as the eighth installment of the series, available as a standalone Steam game.
